Kari Haug, MSN, RN

Chairwoman

Kari Haug’s church had a vision for Hope Christian Health Center over 10 years ago. The vision was to provide health care in a wholistic way – physical, psychosocial, and spiritual. Several church members participated in mission trips to Haiti and witnessed the way the Lord moved to help and heal people through medical missionary work. The same needs were seen in the church’s local community and their goal was to make the vision a reality in North Las Vegas. Kari participated in the initial brainstorming events and has served on the board since 2016. She is passionate about community health — specifically women’s health and has worked in life-affirming ministries for the past 7+ years. Kari strongly believes that true hope and healing requires addressing all the needs of families and communities.

David Sonner

VICE-CHAIRMAN

David Sonner has served on the Board of Directors since 2016. He has previously served as both treasurer and vice-chairman. David grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio in 1974 with a major in Sociology. He was employed with the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Division of Parole and Probation for 25 years and retired as a Captain in December 2014. He is also a hospital chaplain with HOPE Chaplains (no affiliation with HCHC) in Las Vegas and regularly ministers at a rehabilitation hospital in Henderson. His desire to minister to the medical and spiritual needs of this community motivates him to serve on the Board for Hope Christian Health Center.

Scott Moore

Treasurer

After retiring, Scott Moore believed the Lord called him and his wife of 25 years to Las Vegas in 2018. Praying for ways to serve the community, the opportunity to join HCHC presented itself to him and he joined the Board of Directors in 2022. Being in the services segment of business for many years, he delights in helping others and enthusiastically supports the mission of HCHC to provide unhindered access to combined physical and spiritual care.

Dr. Matthew Snyder

Human Resources Committee Officer, Secretary

Dr. Snyder joined the board in 2018 to share his medical experience and passion for providing North Las Vegas patients the hope and comfort of health and life in Christ. He is passionate about providing the opportunity to receive excellent physical healthcare and eternal life through the ministry of a Christian health center.

Raised in Hershey, Pennsylvania, Dr. Snyder completed his medical training at Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then performed his post-graduate training in Family Medicine at Eglin Air Force Base, Family Medicine Residency and is board-certified in Family Medicine. He currently serves as a Director of Medical Education and a Family Medicine/Obstetrics Physician. Dr. Snyder enjoys all desserts with chocolate, hunting, camping, and woodworking. He faithfully serves at his church as a teacher, music director, and instrumentalist. Dr. Snyder is married and has four daughters.

Kristen Martinez

Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Committee Officer

Kristen Martinez shares the same mission as HCHC and strives to meet the needs of underserved communities through her role as a board member and as a Program Coordinator at 10,000 Kids Partnership. She believes that an act of love is an act of service and is passionate about the commandment given in John 13:34-35 – “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have love you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another”.

Kristen moved to Las Vegas with her family in the late 90s. She enjoys spending time and traveling with her large family, attending church, and working towards her communications degree at the College of Southern Nevada. Kristen joined the Board of Directors in 2020. She has two wonderful sons.

Paul Blazi

Director

Paul Blazi’s love for Christ inspired him to join the Board of Directors at HCHC in 2021. He believes that the gospel provides clarity for man’s purpose and that offering hope to the hopeless through Christ’s love is beautiful. Paul teaches high school math at Sandy Valley High School where many of his students experience the same hopelessness seen in our patient population. He strives to make a difference each day in the lives of his students and in the lives of HCHC’s patients. He also looks forward to learning how to further serve our community. Paul’s favorite food is food — with chocolate chip cookies being the perfect choice for him! He loves sports, especially combat sports that highlight the fighting spirit within each of us. Paul and his wife are  proud parents to two sons and have one grandchild.

LaRhonya Richards

Director

LaRhonya Richards is honored to have joined the Board of Directors at HCHC as its newest member in December 2023! She chose to serve on the board as she is very impressed by HCHC itself as a patient. She is passionate about the correct interpretation of scripture both individually and corporately along with the Great Commission going forth to the entire world. She financially supports ministries that are of this mindset as well.
LaRhonya believes in 3 John 1:2 which states “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”  The word of God in so many areas speaks of healing and health. LaRhonya sees how HCHC is on track with following the Lord’s word and truly lines up with the promises as relates to physical health. LaRhonya is a long-time resident of Nevada, and has spent many years in North Las Vegas.  She is committed to the community and vested in the health and well-being of those in the area.
LaRhonya is a Marriage and Family Therapist Licensed Intern and Clinical Professional Counselor Licensed Intern. Born in Los Angeles, California, she has traveled to Israel, Greece, Turkey, Petra, Jordan, Germany, Hawaii, Jamaica, and various islands. Her hobbies include watching black and white movies, her favorite food is salmon, and her favorite dessert is pecan pie. LaRhonya has one daughter, five grandchildren, and has raised 71 foster children.
