John Prescott

CHairman

John (Jack) Prescott is honored to have joined the Board of Directors at HCHC! He loves Hope’s mission, Las Vegas, and its people. Jack was born and raised in Las Vegas and has a heart to serve those around him. He has spent his entire adult life serving our community. He served as a police officer for 28.5 years and has served in other ways through different churches in the valley.

Jack was introduced to Hope a few years ago when he was asked to participate in his church’s partnership with Hope’s Foot Washing event. Hope’s mission is to serve like Jesus, meeting the medical needs of those who cannot afford health care and providing high-quality health care with dignity to those left behind or forgotten by society. He loves that he gets to be part of that mission. He loves God with his whole heart and wishes to serve Him in any and every way he calls him to serve. Jack is married to his best friend, and they have five kids. He loves hiking and has hiked the John Muir Trail.

Kari Haug, MSN, RN

VICE-Chairwoman

Kari Haug’s church had a vision for Hope Christian Health Center over 10 years ago. The vision was to provide health care in a wholistic way – physical, psychosocial, and spiritual. Several church members participated in mission trips to Haiti and witnessed the way the Lord moved to help and heal people through medical missionary work. The same needs were seen in the church’s local community and their goal was to make the vision a reality in North Las Vegas. Kari participated in the initial brainstorming events and has served on the board since 2016. She is passionate about community health — specifically women’s health and has worked in life-affirming ministries for the past 7+ years. Kari strongly believes that true hope and healing requires addressing all the needs of families and communities.

Kristen Martinez

Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Committee Officer

Kristen Martinez shares the same mission as HCHC and strives to meet the needs of underserved communities through her role as a board member and as a Program Coordinator at 10,000 Kids Partnership. She believes that an act of love is an act of service and is passionate about the commandment given in John 13:34-35 – “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have love you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another”.

Kristen moved to Las Vegas with her family in the late 90s. She enjoys spending time and traveling with her large family, attending church, and working towards her communications degree at the College of Southern Nevada. Kristen joined the Board of Directors in 2020. She has two wonderful sons.

Dr. P. Regina Porter

Secretary, Human Resources Committee OfficeSr

Regina has a deep passion for healthcare and an extensive background in serving others. She believes that joining the Hope Christian Health Center board represents an intersection of two profound callings in her life: her faith and her commitment to the healthcare of the community.

Regina has worked at hospitals in the Las Vegas Valley, which increased her desire to serve others, particularly those who are less fortunate. Throughout her career, she has witnessed the transformative power of holistic care, not only to physical ailments but also in addressing both emotional and spiritual needs.

She was drawn to the mission and vision of the HCHC board, which emphasized integrity, compassion, and excellence in healthcare. These values resonate deeply with her personal and professional beliefs. Regina is eager to be able to contribute to an organization that chooses daily to provide healing as they take part in the redemptive work of Christ among individuals who may feel economically, socially, and spiritually inadequate.

Regina’s favorite hobby is reading and studying the gospel. Regina and her family enjoy feeding the homeless.

Jeffrey Thompson

Treasurer

Pastor Jeffrey Thompson serves on the Board of Directors for Hope Christian Health Center, bringing his commitment to faith and community to support the organization’s mission and growth. His goal is to help advance the agency’s work while sharing the hope found in Christ.

Originally from San Francisco, California, Pastor Thompson has been a devoted Christian for many years and actively serves in ministry. He strives to live out and communicate the gospel daily. Deeply passionate about healthcare, he believes in the importance of providing quality care to underserved communities.

Pastor Thompson enjoys studying and teaching the Bible, preaching God’s Word, and traveling – one of his favorite places is the Holy Land. In his leisure time, he also loves cooking and creating new dishes, as well as following football, basketball, and track and field.

David Sonner

Director

David Sonner has served on the Board of Directors since 2016. He has previously served as both treasurer and vice-chairman. David grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio in 1974 with a major in Sociology. He was employed with the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Division of Parole and Probation for 25 years and retired as a Captain in December 2014. He is also a hospital chaplain with HOPE Chaplains (no affiliation with HCHC) in Las Vegas and regularly ministers at a rehabilitation hospital in Henderson. His desire to minister to the medical and spiritual needs of this community motivates him to serve on the Board for Hope Christian Health Center.

LaRhonya Richards

Director

LaRhonya Richards is honored to have joined the Board of Directors at HCHC in December 2023. She chose to serve on the board as she is very impressed by HCHC itself as a patient. She is passionate about the correct interpretation of scripture both individually and corporately along with the Great Commission going forth to the entire world. She financially supports ministries that are of this mindset as well.

LaRhonya believes in 3 John 1:2 which states “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”  The word of God in so many areas speaks of healing and health. LaRhonya sees how HCHC is on track with following the Lord’s word and truly lines up with the promises as relates to physical health.

LaRhonya is a long-time resident of Nevada, and has spent many years in North Las Vegas.  She is committed to the community and vested in the health and well-being of those in the area.

LaRhonya is a Marriage and Family Therapist Licensed Intern and Clinical Professional Counselor Licensed Intern. Born in Los Angeles, California, she has traveled to Israel, Greece, Turkey, Petra, Jordan, Germany, Hawaii, Jamaica, and various islands. Her hobbies include watching black and white movies, her favorite food is salmon, and her favorite dessert is pecan pie. LaRhonya has one daughter, five grandchildren, and has raised 71 foster children.

Her passion for Jesus shines through in everything she does. Madora is committed to sharing His light with those who are uncertain, searching, or in need of encouragement. She believes that North Las Vegas is a place God has uniquely chosen to reveal His love and purpose.
